News is spreading fast that after more than three decades, Knox Goodman's Boutique will close its important and recognizable Shreveport women's fashion store at 714 Azalea Drive on Dec. 31, 2015.

The store's motto "Beautiful clothes for beautiful women" never failed to disappoint, say loyal fans of the store. A few hours after the announcement, many local customers are trying to come to terms with a Shreveport-Bossier retail environment without the store and its ever-present, namesake owner, Knox Goodman.

"Knox Goodman and her staff have been there for me at every major event," said Marie Garcia. "I always feel comfortable in the store, and they make me feel like I belong even when I am on a budget."

Indeed, everyone from celebrities traveling through Shreveport-Bossier to local debutantes to ordinary housewives have a Knox Goodman story. "I have always been impressed with the store, and it is irreplaceable," said wardrobe stylist R. Todd Jones. "It's one of the places in town that is really unique and special. I can't believe it is the last Christmas season. This is really the end of an era in Ark-La-Tex women's fashion."

Jones, who works as a film wardrobe costumer, said it was the service combined with the selection at Knox Goodman's Boutique that set the store apart from its competition. "The service was always impeccable, and product mix was wonderful," Jones said. "The last time I was able to stop in, I rushed in at the last minute while working a film. I was hot and sweaty from a long day of shooting but they treated me just like anyone else with gracious, attentive service. Knox Goodman's will be missed."

In announcing the closure, Goodman said she hoped to continue to be involved in the fashion industry and that there is still hope the business could be purchased after a pending sale was not completed. The 81-year old Shreveport fashion guru also mentioned that she would like to continue to be involved in the fashion industry - even though she is leaving the retail space.

Goodman's retail success began in 1981 when she began selling Gay Boyer Jewelry from Farmingdale, New York. Ever loyal, Goodman continues to provide Boyer jewelry to local customers - some of whom have purchased it since the 1980s. However, the iconic store on Azalea Drive opened approximately 22 years ago, and this is the location where Goodman's reputation was cemented in the Shreveport-Bossier retail market and the surrounding Ark-La-Tex region.

A reception will be held in Goodman's honor on November 30 from 10 am to 6 pm at Knox Goodman's Boutique. This event will give Goodman's fans, customers and friends the chance to say one last goodbye to Goodman's store before the final Christmas rush that will sadly close one of the most widely acclaimed, Ark-La-Tex business success stories of the past 25 years.
